Gifford has been a patron of numerous groups helping children such as Childhelp as well as The Association to Benefit Children and Cassidy's Place. Two houses that were named after her two children were Cassidy's Place and Cody House. Marymount University awarded her honorary degrees for the work that she did in labor relations.
